As India’s first IT Park celebrates its silver jubilee, Kerala Government announced Rs 997.65 crore development project for Technopark.<\/p>\n

The project would cover the Technopark’s phase-I, phase-II and phase-III campuses, Technocity and the satellite centre at Kollam Technopark.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The funding will be used in infrastructure development, land acquisition and marketing initiatives of the Technopark and its satellite centres. The project would cover the Technopark’s phase-I, phase-II and phase-III campuses, Technocity and the satellite centre at Kollam Technopark.<\/p>\n

“The huge development scheme combined with the large scale investments will mark a big leap in Kerala’s IT industry,” said the Chief Minister, after inaugurating a function at Technopark campus to honour the visionaries and the administrators of Technopark. “The project will be approved by the government soon,” he added.<\/p>\n

Referring to the proposed Rs 1,500 crore investment project by IT giant Taurus in Technopark’s phase-III campus, Chandy said it had been approved by the Ministry and the construction activities would commence immediately.<\/p>\n

Named \u2018Taurus Downtown Technopark<\/a>\u2019, the project envisages a development of over 20 lakh square feet of IT special economic zone (SEZ) and non-SEZ space in Technopark Phase III. Downtown Technopark will create supporting infrastructure facilities like commercial retail space, hotels and a plug and play concept office for start-ups and small businesses. The project is expected to generate about 25,000 direct and 75,000 indirect job opportunities.<\/p>\n

The silver jubilee celebrations of Technopark come at a time when IT exports in Kerala for the last fiscal touched Rs 10,000 crore and the total direct employment in the IT industry has touched one lakh employees with 45,000 at Technopark, 25,000 at Kochi Infopark and the rest at various IT companies spread across the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
