Recently, Trivandrum came in the 8th position in the Swachh Bharat rankings. Now Trivandrum Corporation’s health standing committee has lined up 12 more new wards which would be declared as clean wards on August 15.<\/p>\n

The wards should be free of dumpyards and at least 80% of households should have attained self-sufficiency in waste management.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The project is as part of My City, Beautiful City waste management programme of the Trivandrum Corporation. This is for the first time this much wards have been included in the list of clean wards. It was planned to declare all 100 wards garbage free by April 7 but Corporation failed in its plan. People often complained that Cleanwell workers burn waste close to aerobic bins and nirmal units. The health inspectors were directed to deal with such workers and to prevent them from burning waste in public places.<\/p>\n

As part of ‘My city, beautiful city’ campaign, a beautification programme is also being planned at 12 wards where 159 aerobic bins have been installed. Most of the Aero-bins in the city are worn-out and is piled-up with waste. The corporation is holding talks with landscaping experts to give a facelift to areas where aerobic bins have been installed.<\/p>\n

On Independence Day, corporation is planning to launch the construction works of 36 biogas plants.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
