In order to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Onam Festival, City police will launch a special drive to clear encroachment on footpaths and roads.<\/p>\n
The drive was prompted by the difficulties faced by pedestrians and the obstructions to smooth flow of traffic<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The eviction drive will begin this week and it will mainly focus on encroachment on footpaths. Already places where encroachment are identified and notices were served to the vendors. Most of the encroachments are roadside eateries, tiffin stalls and roadside shops.<\/p>\n
The drive was prompted by the difficulties faced by pedestrians and the obstructions to smooth flow of traffic. In some cases pedestrians are forced to walk on the road since the whole footpath was taken over by encroachers. The eviction drive will be carried out jointly by City Police, district administration and the Corporation.<\/p>\n

The police will also intensify night patrols and special attention will be given to locked houses where families were away for the Onam Vacation.
