The Pangode Military Camp is one of two joint training centres newly designated under the Southern Army Command, and joint exercises with armed forces of other nations are likely to become a regular feature here in the coming years. At least one such exercise could be expected every year from now on. The station is being developed to handle such activities and the facilities are being upgraded.<\/p>\n
As many as 45 marines from the MNDF and 45 soldiers of the Indian Army will take part in this exercise. The concluding phase of the exercise, incorporating a tactical exercise, will be witnessed by senior military officers from both the countries, who will review the standards achieved by both the contingents.<\/p>\n
The bilateral annual exercise, which commenced in 2009 in Belgaum, is alternately held in India and Maldives with the aim of enhancing military cooperation between the two countries and increased understanding between the Indian Army and Maldives National Defence Force.
