It was two years ago when Kerala Government mooted a High-speed marine highway between Trivandrum and Kasaragod. And now it seems like the project is gaining momentum.<\/p>\n
The state government is planning to launch a High-speed marine highway between Trivandrum and Kochi.\u00a0 The project plans to connect Trivandrum with Kochi with high-speed passenger ships which can cover the distance in less than 3 hours, roughly the time a train takes.<\/p>\n
Initially, there will be only one service per day and it will cost Rs700 per person for ticket.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The high-speed ships can carry around 75-100 passengers and will sail through coastal waters at a distance of 12 nautical miles from the shore. Similarly there will be service between Kochi and Kozhikode too at a rate of Rs700 per person.<\/p>\n
Harbour department has already floated the tenders and many international players have expressed their interest. The feasibility study was conducted by NATPAC and government is willing to provide financial support to the contractors who takes up this project.<\/p>\n

The good news is unlike the High Speed Rail Corridor and Express Highway project, which costs tens of thousands cores, the new project will be significantly low.
