The successful conduct of the 35th National Games has fetched Trivandrum a handsome reward.\u00a0 The 11th edition of the South Asian Football Federation Championships will be held in Trivandrum from December 23 to January 3.<\/p>\n

This will be the first international sporting event to be held in the new stadium. Praful Patel, President of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) said that the country was proud to be hosting the tournament for the third time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a great pleasure to host the SAFF Championship in India once again. This time the SAFF Suzuki Cup will be held at the newly launched The Sports Hub, Trivandrum, which is a world-class complex,<\/em>\u201d said Praful Patel.<\/p>\n

The tournament will be called SAFF Suzuki Cup 2015 as Suzuki Motor Corporation will be the title sponsor of the ninth edition of the premier regional competition.<\/p>\n

Hosts India will go into the hat with holders Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lank. The official draw for the SAFF Suzuki Cup 2015 has been released in Delhi. The teams will be drawn into two groups of four with the leading two sides after the round-robin stage progressing to the semi-finals.<\/p>\n

Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan was made the chairman of the organising committee for the SAFF Cup. V Sivankutty MLA, also the president of the Thiruvananthapuram District Football Association (TDFA), will act as the working chairman while Kerala Football Association (KFA) president K M I Mather will be the general convener.<\/p>\n
