The revamping of the Thampanoor Central station is progressing at a fast pace. The front area of the station is being revamped to include a new spacious booking office, premium short-stay parking facility, and a pre-paid taxi service.<\/p>\n
The aim is to provide passengers with a comfortable experience while they are waiting for their trains.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The new state-of-the-art ticket counter located below the reservation office has 12 counters with one counter reserved exclusively for differently-abled persons. The air-conditioned counter also has several LED televisions which displays information such as train timings, fare list etc. Security systems including CCTV cameras is also being installed. The booking office is almost ready for commissioning. Apart from these more ATVMs (Automatic Ticket Vending Machines) will be installed to ensure smooth ticket generation process.<\/p>\n
When the new block is commissioned, the existing ticket counter area will be converted into an executive lounge of international standards. The lounge will have several facilities such as recliners and sofas for seating arrangements, meals, buffet, newspapers, magazines, TV, Wi-Fi connectivity, luggage racks and clean washrooms, among others.<\/p>\n

The existing taxi parking lot will be used for creating short-stay premium parking for those who come to drop and receive passengers. The fee will be slightly higher for parking vehicles here. The current pre-paid taxi stand will be located close to the food plaza on the side of platform one. As many as 60 auto-rickshaws and 20 taxies can be parked here and they can move without entering the front area of the main building.<\/p>\n
