Various factors such as difficulties in land acquisition hindered the progress of the work as the district administration could not complete the acquisition process on time.<\/p>\n
The mosque located at Pappanamcode has not been shifted yet even after the cabinet decided to hand over around 3.4 cents from KSRTC garage for the purpose. Meanwhile District collector Biju Prabhakar said that he came to know about the cabinet decision only through media reports.<\/p>\n
The delay in pipe laying works by KWA pose a major hurdle to the tarring works. There is a huge delay in shifting the existing pipelines. And to make matters worse, some of the pipes laid by KWA burst often damaging the already tarred portions.<\/p>\n
Construction of subway at Nemom, which was originally not part of the DPR, too has delayed the project. First level of tarring has been completed on 4km stretch. The final level tarring could be taken up only after completing the land acquisition works.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the land acquisition work along the next stretch from Pravachambalam to Balaramapuram yet to start. The compensation for the people affected by road widening has been approved by the state-level purchase committee.
