Soon, City police will setup classified paid parking areas along city roads. The pilot phase of the project will be implemented from Friday on the stretch of road between Pulimood and East Fort on MG Road.<\/p>\n
Once the public get used to the paid parking system, people will not leave their vehicles anywhere they like.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
As many as 10 parking areas have been identified at different locations along the stretch.\u00a0 Of these, four are classified for four-wheeler parking and six for parking two-wheelers. Over 10 spots along the stretch, have been marked as no parking zones. This includes both sides of the stretch from Ayurveda College junction to Overbridge, where motorists hitting the array of leading commercial establishments there park their vehicles.<\/p>\n
The charge for two-wheeler parking will be Rs.2 while for four-wheelers Rs10 will be charge for an hour. The motorists, who still parked their vehicles on no-parking zone would be slapped a fine of Rs.600. But beware, the amount is not a penalty. It\u2019s the charge to tow away the erroneously parked vehicles. The vehicles would be left at either the nearest classified parking zone or taken to the traffic police station.<\/p>\n

District Collector aid that more paid parking zones on roadsides will be introduced along the stretch of Palayam to East Fort on MG Road, Vazhuthacaud and Medical College. The collector also added that the new system was not meant to deny free parking space to people but to avoid haphazard parking.<\/p>\n
