It seems like Trivandrum is becoming the hub of sporting events in the state, all thanks to Karyavattom International Stadium.<\/p>\n
Preparations have started at the Karyavattom International Stadium to host the host the 11th edition of the South Asian Football Federation Championships. SAFF Cup) would be played in Trivandrum from December 23, 2015 to January 3, 2016.<\/p>\n
Currently, the authorities are preparing the outfield and dressing rooms for the players. Two matches will be played daily during the SAFF Cup so additional dressing rooms are essential. Currently there are only two dressing rooms for the players. The grass used in the outfield is on par with the many world-class stadiums. IL&FS will get Rs.2 Lac as rent for every match.<\/p>\n
Following SAFF cup, Trivandrum may also host the World cup Qualifier Match between India-Turkmenistan on March. The authorities are also planning to host some of the Indian Premier League Cricket matches here.<\/p>\n
The stadium will be fully fledged by February. After that the stadium will be rented out to host other non-sporting events. The stadium is designed in such way where the grass in the ground or the outfield will not be damaged under heavy stress.<\/p>\n
The work on the 40 room club house with 5-star facility will be completed by February. The club house will also have an international convention centre and an indoor swimming pool. Apart from these, there will be facilities for Table Tennis, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis courts etc.<\/p>\n
Trivandrum International Stadium will also have a 5-Screen multiplex theatre with latest technology in terms of visual and sound presentation. Apart from multiplex, the stadium will also have a \u2018Hypermarket\u2019 operated by the UAE based Al Manama Group. Recently, the stadium authorities have signed an agreement with the Al Manama group regarding the hypermarket. The stadium will also have outlets of all international brands.<\/p>\n
