Following the lines of parking restriction implemented at MG road, City police have decided to enforce parking restrictions on the Vellayambalam-Sasthamangalam Road from Monday.<\/p>\n
Police also announced that the traffic on the road will be streamlined by setting up proper signboards, rearranging the parking system by differentiating parking and no parking zones.\u00a0However, the\u00a0stretch will not have any paid parking zones.\u00a0Police have identified as many as 14 parking zones along the stretch. Out of this, eight are for cars and six for two-wheelers. The remaining portions of the stretch are no-parking zones and erring motorists would be penalized.<\/p>\n

Police will strictly implement traffic rules such as speed control, wearing helmets and seat belts will be inspected on a regular basis to ensure hassle-free traffic on the stretch.\u00a0 Traffic wardens will be deployed on the stretch to ensure that traffic rules such as lane traffic and parking are properly followed. Motorists will be given awareness tips in the initial days in the form of pamphlets and notices. The traffic police will also make loudspeaker announce.<\/p>\n
Vellayambalam-Sasthamangalam Road will be designed as the second model road after MG Road.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile at MG Road, \u2018pay and park\u2019 arrangement\u00a0 will come into effect on Monday only on the Pulimood-Pazhavangady stretch of MG Road. A minimum fee of Rs 2 for two-wheelers and Rs 10 for four-wheelers for an hour will be levied.<\/p>\n
District collector said that the new system was not meant to deny free parking space to people but to avoid haphazard parking. Once the public get used to the paid parking system, people will not leave their vehicles anywhere they like. Such a system is very common in foreign countries.<\/p>\n
