Why not Both?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It seems like the \u2018Night Eatery Street\u2019 project at Manaveeyam Veedhi, proposed by Gender Park is put on hold.<\/p>\n<p>It is learnt that, <strong>Manaveeyam Theruvorakoottam<\/strong> which consists of various cultural groups wants to retain the road as a cultural street. According to the group, this street was used by people for cultural activities for the last 15 years and it is deplorable to convert such a cultural space into food stalls. Manaveeyam Theruvorakoottam fears that Gender Park&#8217;s project will leave no space for the cultural activities. Some are in the opinion that it will promote nightlife and attract wrong kind of crowd. The group also started an online campaign against Gender Park\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Night Eatery Street project involves seven food vans run by women entrepreneurs from poor background and not by KFC or McDonald&#8217;s.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Gender Park did not involve any other stakeholder in the Manaveeyam project, according to Manaveeyam Theruvorakkoottam. They said that Gender Park made a unilateral decision without considering the viewpoints of Theruvorakkoottam. Social Justice Minister M K Muneer has decided to hold a meeting of all stakeholders on November 16, to discuss the issue. Gender Park CEO P T Mohammed Sunish said that they have not received any official communication regarding the meeting on November 16. Night Eatery Street is envisaged as a mix of food stalls and cultural programmes.
