The ramp to International Airport Terminal constructed on National Highway will be demolished as soon as possible. The structure was one of the main hurdles of four-laning of Kazhakootam-Mukkola by pass. It was constructed so that vehicles can avoid going to Shangumugham side to get to the terminal.<\/p>\n
The ramp was constructed without getting permission from the NHAI. The ramp which extends to already acquire land for NH was constructed during the previous government. Neither NHAI nor Airport Authority has involvement in the construction.<\/p>\n
Forest Department has given permission to cut trees on the 11-km stretch from Kazhakuttam to Chakka Junction. Permission for cutting 1,100 trees on the stretch was issued by the Social Forestry wing on Wednesday. Trees on the right side of the bypass from Kazhakuttom Junction to Ananthapuri Hospitals and those on the left side from Kazhakuttom Junction to Venpalavattom will be axed. The enumeration along the next stretch of nearly 10 km is expected to be completed within a week. The trees to be retained and felled were being marked using yellow and red paints respectively.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Kovalam to Mukkola stretch will have 2 railway overbridges (or overpasses), one underpass, box culverts and one bio-duct.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
