For years mall projects in Trivandrum failed to take off. Though many prominent builders tried to build a mall in Trivandrum, they failed due to one reason or another. However, that’s all in the past. Soon, Trivandrum will also get the taste of mall culture that too, within a year.<\/p>\n

Lulu group is soon going to construct a world-class mall at Akkulam. Background works are going in full swing and already soil testing has completed. Currently, the company is trying to get clearance from the Pollution Control Board and from the Environment Department.<\/p>\n

Apart from the Mall, the project also envisages a 150 suit 5-Star Hotel and a large convention centre.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Details of the upcoming Lulu Mall is still unknown at this point and the company is yet to reveal the design of the mall. The project will come up at the 22 acre of land near the Akkulam Toll plaza. Apart from housing world leading branded outlets, the mall will have all the usual facilities like multiplex, food court, entertainment zone. The project also envisages a 150 suit 5-Star Hotel and a large convention centre. Currently, Trivandrum does not have a 5-star hotel with this much rooms. The convention centre is expected to have a seating capacity of 2500.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile already some mall projects are progressing in full swing such as the Mall of Travancore and Artech World Mall.<\/p>\n

Scheduled to be completed in 2016, Mall of Travancore will be the first mall to open in Trivandrum.\u00a0 The mall promises a shopper\u2019s paradise sprawling over more than 6 lakh sq.ft of retail space with more than 200 outlets of international brands.\u00a0 A 7 Screen multiplex operated by Carnival Group will also be available at the mall. Artech World Mall was the first announced mall project but project got stalled due to some reasons. The mall will also have multiplex, food courts and a gaming zone.<\/p>\n

However, the biggest and the most excited project will be the Taurus Downtown Technopark<\/a>.\u00a0 Rs.1,200 Crore Downtown Technopark features over 1,800,000 Square Feet of world-class, Class A, office space in three towers and a 750,000 Square Feet regional-scale shopping centre with multiple anchor tenants. The project also includes two hotels, the first of which will be operated by Hilton. The ground breaking is planned for early 2016. Phase I of the project that will include about 1,100,000 Square Feet of office, the retail component, and a 150 key hotel is expected to be operational in mid-2018.<\/p>\n
