From the makers of the immensely popular “Jail chappathi and Biryanis\u201d comes another venture, but this time it\u2019s a Cafeteria.<\/p>\n
Yes, hats right! Prison authorities in Trivandrum is foraying into Cafeteria and snack business. Prison authorities are planning to sell all the food items made by the inmates in this new cafeteria. This will include chappathi chicken combo, biriyanis and many more delicacies under one roof.<\/p>\n
The cafeteria will also have free Wi-Fi, mobile charging facilities, ample parking space and toilets.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The yet to be named cafeteria is nearing completion on the roadside adjacent to the Prison compound. The name of the cafeteria is likely to carry forward the \u2018Freedom\u2019 tagline of the products from the Central Prison.<\/p>\n
The project is the brainchild of former DGP (Prisons) Loknath Behera and is being constructed at a cost of Rs.30 lakh. The public sector unit SILK is behind the construction. But the speciality is that, all\u00a0 the exterior work, from laying of interlocking tiles to fixing gates for the compound wall is done by prison inmates.<\/p>\n
The premises will later be expanded to have a sale outlet of the Prison\u2019s fashion apparel initiative as well.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The cafeteria will be fully air-conditioned cafeteria and will have Prisons department staff manning the counter, while cooking will be done by inmates. It will have four tables with seating capacity of 16 and will have a takeaway counter as well. That\u2019s not all! The cafeteria will also have free Wi-Fi, mobile charging facilities, ample parking space and toilets. The jail authorities want the cafeteria to be a hangout hub for the people. The premises will later be expanded to have a sale outlet of the Prison\u2019s fashion apparel initiative as well.<\/p>\n
Pricing<\/h3>\n
The chappathi-chicken curry combo is now priced at Rs.35, with each chappathi coming at just Rs.2 and the curry at Rs.25. \u00a0The \u2018dum\u2019 biryani is priced at Rs.60 and the chilli chicken curry at Rs.40.
