The ambitious plan to construct a cinema complex to host the IFFK festival is once again in spotlight.<\/p>\n

Kerala Government has taken up the plan to setup a state -of -the -art cinema complex in Trivandrum in the wake of overwhelming response for the 20th International Film Festival of Kerala that concluded on Friday. The government is in the process of identifying land for constructing a permanent cinema complex to conduct international film festivals in the future. According to the reports, the cinema complex may come up in the land somewhere in Kowdiar.<\/p>\n

It is estimated that at 25,000 delegates will take part in the 25th Edition of IFFK.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“We do not have any financial crunch and this proposal will be given a foremost importance because of the huge response and goodwill it has drawn amongst all section of people in the society,” said Cinema Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan to TOI.<\/p>\n

The proposal is being mooted so that the festival will remain within the city limits. Earlier it was proposed to construct the complex in Kinfra park. The idea was dropped because of its distance from the city.<\/p>\n

The proposal for a festival complex had come up several times in the past, but failed to materialize. A permanent cinema complex is a must for IFFK, considering the increasing popularity of the IFFK. According to the official records, 14,000 delegates had registered for IFFK this year. And it is estimated that at 25,000 delegates will register in the 25th IFFK. To accommodate the huge number of delegates, a permanent cinema complex is a must.<\/p>\n
