Ending a long wait of 6 years, KSRTC have started operating short distance services from inside the Central Bus Terminal in Thampanoor.<\/p>\n
KSRTC now operates 580 short distance services<\/strong> from the terminal and this is in addition to 712 long distance bus service<\/strong> already operating from the new terminal.<\/p>\n The shifting of buses to the terminal will put an end to traffic snarls in the area.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n With the new move, temporary bus stops arranged near railway quarters on the Aristo Junction road and in front of Chaitram hotel will stop functioning. The shifting of buses to the terminal will also provide a solution to the traffic chaos near Thampanoor Central railway station and Aristo Junction. However, services to Attingal side, which are operating from the RMS junction, will continue to be operated from there itself. Tamil Nadu road transport buses, which are now being operated from in front of the new terminal, will also continue to operate from outside.<\/p>\n Newly shifted services is being operated from the new platform near the old Indian Coffee House building, where there are three bus bays. These platforms were planned such that the halt and departure of short-distance buses from inside the terminal does not hinder the movement of other buses.<\/p>\n The new Central Bus terminal is a long way from becoming fully fledged.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The delay in starting the short distance bus service from the terminal even after its completion last year had come in for flak. Even now, the new terminal is long way from becoming fully fledged. The citizens and the passengers will have to wait for some more time to see the commercial hub inside the terminal.
