If the study is anything to go by, the distance of 430kms between the two cities at either end of Kerala will be covered in just 145 minutes i.e. in around two and a half hours.\u00a0 The proposed train would traverse a distance of 190 kms through pillar-supported bridges and cross the remaining kilometers using underground tunnels.<\/p>\n
As part of this, around 21 kms of high ground will be demolished and flattened, while 61 kms will be done using the “cut-and-bank\u2019 procedure and 36kms through the “cut-and-cover” method. A total of nine stations will be constructed at Trivandrum, Kollam, Chengannur, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Valanchery, Kozhikode and Kannur.<\/p>\n
With high speed rail, Trivandrum to Kochi can be covered in just 40 minutes. Currently it takes 3 hours.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The bullet train will be able to carry 817 passengers<\/strong> and would have 8 coaches including first class and business class. If commenced in 2016, the works will be over by 2022. The first phase will cover the Trivandrum-Kochi. The entire project has an estimated expenditure of Rs 65000 crores.<\/strong><\/p>\n
With bullet train, Trivandrum to Kochi can be covered in just 40 minutes. Currently, it takes three and a half hours for the Jan Shatabdi Express to shuttle between the two cities.<\/p>\n
