Trivandrum City police has launched \u2018She Auto\u2019 project in the city to ensure safe travel for women of all ages.<\/p>\n
She Auto is an upgrade of already existing \u2018women-friendly\u2019 auto project. While it was a pink sticker that set apart women-friendly autos from other rickshaws, She Autos will have more than just cosmetic works to serve this purpose.<\/p>\n
She Auto comes with an Android Tablet which shows speed, location and fare to passengers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The unique feature of She Auto is that, it will come with an Android Tablet which will give real-time information on speed, location, time and fare to travellers. Free internet will be available in the vehicle. The commuters can locate the nearest vehicle through mobile app.<\/p>\n
Almost all the drivers who were servicing under women-friendly auto project, will be migrated to She Auto project. The driver of She Auto will also have ID cards and a special police cell has been created to monitor the auto drivers.<\/p>\n
\u201cDrivers of good conduct and character have been selected after a detailed background inquiry through police stations and beat officers of Janamaithri community policing scheme<\/em>,\u201d said City Police Commissioner R Sparjan Kumar to IE.<\/p>\n
The police are also trying employ female rickshaw drivers for the project. Already six women have enrolled.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
450 autorickshaws have been included in the first phase. They are stationed at the auto stands at Thampanoor Railway Station, Pettah Railway Station, East Fort, Palayam, Peroorkada, Medical College and Kazhakoottam.<\/p>\n
The police are also trying employ female rickshaw drivers for the project. Already six women have enrolled.<\/p>\n
