The beautification project \u2018Arteria\u2019 which turns city walls into one long canvas is back for phase-2.<\/p>\n
Around 22 artists are already working on the walls of Kanakakunnu Palace, Chandrashekharan Nair Stadium, corporation office, office of tourism directorate etc. The project will be completed before March 2. District tourism promotion council (DTPC) has earmarked around Rs 35 lakhs for the second edition of Arteria.<\/p>\n
The history of the erstwhile Travancore royal family will be the theme for the paintings on the compound wall of the Kanakakkunnu Palace.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The history of the erstwhile Travancore royal family will be the theme for the paintings on the compound wall of the Kanakakkunnu Palace. The paintings here have a length of 200 feet and height of 6 feet. Meanwhile at Mascot Hotel, \u2018Responsible Tourism\u2019 will be the theme of painting and the paintings will show life in the state from the beach to the high range.<\/p>\n
Tourism Directorate will have a single painting on the 100-ft-long, 4-ft-high compound wall and 10-ft-high, 10-ft-wide building wall. At Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, there will be a painting of length 60 ft and height 30 ft and a painting of length 30 ft and height 25 ft will come up at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium. The artists are free to choose their themes for the paintings at these locations. There is an ‘open canvass’ on one end of the University Stadium, where the artists can change paintings based on contemporary themes.<\/p>\n
Steps will be taken to preserve the paintings that were prepared in the first phase.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The Phase-1 of the project was successfully completed at the walls of the University Stadium stretching from LMS Junction to Palayam, where 21 established artists painted around 7,000 sq ft of wall. The walls of University Stadium have been painted with colourful images themes related to the city\u2019s rich culture and heritage.
