The ramp leading to the international airport will be demolished and a new one will be constructed soon. Authorities at the Trivandrum Airport have sent a proposal to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for final approval of the new ramp that connects airport with the By-pass.<\/p>\n
The ramp will be demolished from the point where the airport collects user fee to the point where it joins the NH.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The decision to demolish the ramp constructed by the previous government was taken last month based on a request by the NHAI. The ramp was constructed in an unscientific manner and posed a real hurdle in widening the road to 45 metres. Although airport initially opposed the move, they later agreed to consider the new proposal suggested by NHAI.<\/p>\n
According to the proposal, the existing ramp will be demolished and a new one will be constructed connecting it to the road. The ramp will be demolished from the point where the airport collects user fee to the point where it joins the NH. Instead a road will be constructed in a manner that will directly enter the service road.<\/p>\n
The advantage of the new road is that it will give a direct entry to the NH unlike the current one.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The new road would have a 1 in 16 gradient, which means a vehicle moving 100 metres will take a 6 metre height. The advantage of the new road is that it will give a direct entry to the NH.<\/p>\n
