With air-conditioned Nano cars and facilities like GPS tracking, the Kudumbasree travels was given a grandeur launch two years back. However, the fact is that the taxi service for the women is still to make a mark. 17 taxis are operational now under this scheme, with seven being in Trivandrum. As per the sources, technical barriers and lack of strong client base are the prime reasons for their backfiring. The help desk \u2018Snehitha\u2019 with the facility of call centre was closed a year back. The drivers had to pay a share of the earning to carry out the operations of call centre, which they hesitated and lead to the closing of call centre.<\/p>\n

More cars and trips are the only way to save the taxi service form this crisis. Kudumbasree now plans to expand their auto rickshaw service which currently has 58 ones in service.
