As the city facing unbearable heat, the zoo authorities have adapted a number of steps eyeing the comfort of animals and birds. By providing cooling systems in the enclosure to change in food diet, they are treated carefully to face the mounting temperature. Drinking water and water is supplied in ample quantity so as to avoid problems like dehydration.<\/p>\n

\"Trivandrum<\/p>\n

\u2018Fruit Punch\u2019, ice blocks made of fruits like water melon is given to animals like Himalayan Bear to cope up with the heat. Normal ice blocks are also provided to Himalayan Bear in addition to fruit punch. Fruit eating animals are supplied with water rich foods like water melon, cucumber etc. The inclusion of water sprinklers and fans in some of the enclosures has been another idea to tackle the heat.<\/p>\n

The enclosures are sprinkled daily morning and evening to keep the ground as cool as possible.<\/p>\n

The tigers are being hosed two times a day, which may even go up to thrice a day. Their enclosures are filled with drinking water by the keepers at morning and night. As part of the diet, less meat is being given to them with Monday served as fasting day.<\/p>\n

Coolers have been provided for reptiles to keep off the heat. The animals are now fed with vitamin content foods. There will be considerable change in the diet when summer arrives in full swing.
