This time with a variety of events including a Vintage Auto Expo!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The sprawling lawns of the Kanakakkunnu Palace is again turned into a veritable flower garden as the city hosts one of its prestigious events \u2013The Flower show. The show which slated to be held from <strong>March 24 to April 3<\/strong>, will be inaugurated by Mayor V K Prasanth at 4 pm on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>A variety of flowering and fruit bearing plants that are native to the different Indian states will be arrayed for display in the exhibition. A major share of the exhibits will be sourced from individual flori-culturists, nurseries within the state and from outside the state.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A variety of flowering and fruit bearing plants that are native to the different Indian states will be arrayed for display in the exhibition.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s not just flowers. This year\u2019s show will see a host of other programmes like cattle show, exotic bird show, vintage auto expo, rare bonsai show, landscape show and various entertainment programmes. \u00a0It will also provide a rare opportunity for cattle lovers and vintage vehicle enthusiasts to witness indigenous cattle breeds and vintage automobiles.<\/p>\n<p>The Vintage car show will display cars dating back to the 1900s. Some of the cars have a registration of erstwhile Travancore state. While the cattle show displays exotic cattle varieties like Sahiwal which is seen only in Gir forests, Ongole cow from Andhra Pradesh, Kankrej fron Gujarat, Tharparkar which is endemic to Thar desert, the Krishna cow, Kapila, Kasargod dwarf cow and Vechur cow, among others. This year\u2019s flower show will also provide an opportunity for the visitors to interact with city-based agriculture enthusiasts and get tips.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Vintage car show will display cars dating back to the 1900s. Some of the cars have a registration of erstwhile Travancore state.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Flower show will also include an ethnic food fest by Kudumbashree Cafe, game shows and several entertainment programmes. The entry ticket is priced at <strong>Rs 30<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Trivandrum has been hosting Flower show for the past 40 years.
