A shop in Chalai market in Trivandrum is getting praised for providing free drinking water to people who are out in the intense heat.<\/p>\n
Chandra Babu of TCN Decorations, a florist in the Chalai market, has set up two cans of drinking water in front of his shop, so that people can stop-by and quench their thirst. Chandra Babu, a resident of Thirumala, says he got this novel idea after he noticed that his employees needs at least two 20-litre water cans a day.<\/p>\n

“We have around 13 employees in our shop and they would easily drain two 20-litre water cans a day. This made me think how much the people on the busy streets of the market would be wishing for a drink<\/em>,” said Chandra Babu to TOI.<\/p>\n
This thought made him set up two water cans on either side of his shop at the beginning of this summer season.<\/p>\n
“I had been running this shop since 1992, and cannot remember a summer hotter than this year. It costs me around Rs 250 a day to maintain the two water cans, but the smiles and acknowledgements that I receive from the users are just priceless<\/em>,” said Chandra Babu.<\/p>\n
People from all walks of life including auto drivers, street vendors, businessmen and customers find Chandra Babu’s service a blessing.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0idea first introduced by Chandra Babu is now being picked up by a couple more shop owners in the market street.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
