People are finding it difficult to buy coriander leaves as the price has reached to Rs 160 per kg. The price of beetroot has jumped to Rs.45 from Rs.28 and salad cucumber from Rs.15 to Rs.38. a single piece of lemon now costs around Rs.12! Though the prices of these have shot up comprehensively, many of the vegetables have shown only slight increase in the price. The sellers also attribute the price rise to the low quality of vegetables as they are getting easily rotted in the heat.<\/p>\n
The shortage of stock sums up the price rise! Prices are a bit on the lower side in Horticorp outlets, but the substandard quality and shortage in stock is affecting them too. The price of fruits has also gone up in these days. The price of pineapple has rose from Rs.50 to Rs.60, orange costs Rs.120 for a kg now. The sellers are also not keen in having too much stock, just keeping the stock required for 1-2 days. The dearth of rainfall has affected the crops and the prices will continue to stay intact.
