Museum authorities will carry out urgent repair to the structure of the Napier Museum soon.<\/p>\n
Repair works which was supposed to start in April, has been beset by procedural delays. But now the project is picking up momentum after talks were held between Archaeology Director G. Prem Kumar and Museums and Zoo Director K. Gangadharan<\/p>\n

Back in February, a workshop was conducted to prepare a roadmap for renovation of Napier Museum\u2019s structure and collection. It was decided that the work would be taken up by the Museum under the guidance of the Archaeology department.<\/p>\n
The repair will focus on both structural and object conservation. Repairs to the roof were an immediate requirement for the building\u2019s survival.<\/p>\n
The repairs are expected to be completed before June 1.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The Archaeology department has shortlisted three contractors who are competent to undertake the work and a report has been submitted to the Museum authorities. The engineers of the contractors will conduct a site visit under the supervision of an Archaeology engineer on Wednesday, and estimates will be submitted to the Museum authorities. Work will be awarded to the contractor who quotes the lowest amount.<\/p>\n
