Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan has launched ‘International School of Music’ in Trivandrum. Chief Secretary S M Vijayanand unveiled the foundation stone for the International School of Music which will operate under Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi.<\/p>\n
The school will follow the traditional `gurukul’ system and accommodate students from across the globe.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The International School of Music will come up in on the two acres allocated by the state government at Veli near the tourist village. The government has allotted land for setting up the institute after the Sarod maetro expressed his desire to have it in the capital. Ustad Amjad Ali Khan will be shifting his residence from New Delhi to the state capital to set up the school.<\/p>\n
The maestro said the school will follow the traditional `gurukul’ system and accommodate students from across the globe. The school will also provide training in all forms of music, and will not limit itself to the classical Indian styles.<\/p>\n
Ustad Amjad Ali Khan will be shifting his residence from New Delhi to the state capital to set up the school.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
“This is not happening in any of the existing schools and academies. What we have in mind is a modernized residential music school, which can follow the centuries-old `guru-shishya parampara’ and nurture great artistes<\/em>,” he said.<\/p>\n
The music school campus will be designed by a Kerala architect and academy will have a concert hall and hostel facilities.<\/p>\n
