Says Tourism Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The state government is in the process of preparing a separate master plans for Kovalam and <a href=\"http:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/ponmudi-a-place-to-be-friends-with-the-clouds\/\">Ponmudi<\/a> with an eye on comprehensive development for the next three decades.<\/p>\n<p>In a bid to increase the facilities at Ponmudi, the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) will open a tourist camping centre at Kallar and a wayside rest centre at Vithura soon. The tourist camping centre comprises four guest rooms, a dormitory and a restaurant. \u00a0\u201cIts construction has been completed,\u201d said Tourism Minister A C Moideen in a written reply in the Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>The rest room at Vithura is coming up at Swaraj Island Park on the way to Ponmudi. It will have a coffee bar and toilets.<\/p>\n<p>The construction of a new 16-room guest house has started at Ponmudi. This will support the existing facilities which include a 15-room guest house run by the Tourism Department and the Tourist Amenity Centre of the Forest Department at Upper Sanitorium which has a cafeteria, restaurant, toilets and an \u2018interpretation\u2019 centre. In addition to this, the KTDC is operating ten quarters, a canteen and a conference hall at Ponmudi.<\/p>\n<p>The topic was raised in the Assembly by D K Murali who wanted the government to form a Tourism Hub linking <a href=\"http:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/8-reasons-why-you-should-visit-varkala-once-in-your-life-time\/\">Varkala<\/a>, Ponmudi and Kovalam and create master plans for their development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The state government is in the process of preparing a separate master plans for Kovalam and Ponmudi with an eye on comprehensive development for the next three decades.
