It seems like High Speed Rail Corridor for Kerala is back in the reckoning as Indian Railway decided to include Trivandrum in its ambitious bullet train project.<\/p>\n
A high level meeting held in this regard by the railways has directed Railway Technical development wing Executive Director Nithin Chowdhary to conduct a feasibility study. The report will be submitted within two months.<\/p>\n

As per the plan, Trivandrum will be included in the High Speed Rail Corridor project which connects Bangalore and Chennai. At present, the project is going to be implemented on Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. Meeting also decided to run bullet train in Delhi-Chennai, Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Kolkata and Mumbai-Chennai.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile Kerala government has taken the steps to speed up its own Trivandrum -Kannur high-speed rail (HSR). The HSR will have a speed potential of 350 km per hour and Trivandrum to Kollam can be covered in 20 minutes, Kochi in 53 minutes, Kozhikode in 98 minutes, and Kannur in two hours. According to DPR, of the total 430 km to Kannur, the rail line will be elevated over 190 km and underground for 146 km. The land to be acquired will be 600 hectares.<\/p>\n
