Carl Hooper the former West Indies captain feels that the Indian Premier league (IPL) is the biggest threat to the international cricket. “One of the biggest threats facing cricket is the IPL,” Hooper told Australian News Paper \u2018The Advertiser’<\/p>\n
Hooper also said that the West Indies team could lose its way, if West Indies Cricket Board does not act against IPL contracts to the players, who are being lured by the IPL, including opener Chris Gayle who is having issues with the board for a very long time. Some of the players including spinner Sunil Narine and all-rounder Dwayne \u00a0Bravo missed ‘Test Duty’ in order to play IPL.<\/p>\n
“The spectators want to see the best players. If I looked up and saw no Gayle or key players named to play, I would just say forget about it, stay home. They have to figure out a way to get our key players contracted” said Hooper<\/p>\n
If popular players like Sunil Narine sign board contract, they will be forced to play for West Indies ahead of leagues such as IPL. “If Narine has a central contract that would mean he would have to play for the West Indies,” said Hooper.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to have our best cricketers playing each and every time we take the park. I am old fashioned, I believe in Test cricket.
