If you thought the unethical practice like \u2018Nookkukooli\u2019 – banned by Kerala High Court has come to an end, drop into Technopark.\u00a0 The influx of union workers has allegedly scuttled the smooth functioning of Technopark, a Special Economic Zone (SEZ). There were many incidents where head load workers demanding heavy charges for loading-unloading activities.<\/p>\n

The latest incident of \u2018hooliganism\u2019 by head load workers in Technopark happened yesterday when head load workers demanded high rates from a Startup company.<\/p>\n

\"IMG-20160808-WA0015\"The incident happened when IT firm ‘Good Methods Global<\/a>‘ tried to unload office equipment and furniture to their new office in Technopark Phase 3. The head load workers demanded exorbitant\u00a0rates and when the IT Company refused, the employees including their CEO were thrashed by the head load workers.<\/p>\n

Head load workers demanded Rs70 per chair whereas the rate for unloading a chair is only Rs24 as per\u00a0the state labour department<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Head load workers demanded Rs70 per chair but the company officials insisted that they can only accept rates prescribed by the State Labour Department. This provoked the union workers which resulted in thrashing the techies.\u00a0 According to the state labour department, the rate for unloading a chair is only Rs24. Even though Techies offered Rs25\/chair head load workers demanded that they need Rs70\/chair.<\/p>\n

Head load workers also blocked two truck which was carrying company’s equipment. Eventually, the police were called but they refused to take action against head load workers, as some high-profile union leaders intervened. They even pressured the techies to not to press any charges.<\/p>\n

\"IMG-20160808-WA0014\"Technopark is a SEZ which is a high-security zone. Only those who have a special pass and permission are allowed to enter the campus. But the union labourers enter the campus through three main gates without carrying their identity cards.<\/p>\n
