After much debate and controversies, the state government has selected Thiruvallom for the much-awaited permanent facility for holding International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).\u00a0 Cultural Affairs and Cinema Minister A K Balan said the permanent venue for IFFK will come up on Chitranjali Studio campus.<\/p>\n
The minister also said that a DPR is being prepared for the proposed film city at this location. The state government has already earmarked a sum of Rs.50 crore in the annual budget for IFFK permanent venue. “But the Finance Department is ready to give Rs 100 crore”, the\u00a0minister said.<\/p>\n
IFFK which is one of the biggest annual events in the capital is held across ten to twelve cinema theatres within the city. A demand for a permanent facility to host IFFK is very old.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The studio campus has around 80 acres and nearly 60 is lying unused. The project will be implemented through Kerala State Film Development Corporation. Funds will be raised through Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB), a statutory body formed under Finance Department for raising funds for big infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n

The project only remained in the file as the government was not able to find a suitable land to construct the venue.
