After a long delay of two years, Trivandrum Railway Station, the largest and busiest station in the south is all set to provide the free Wi-Fi facility from Friday. The Wi-Fi facility has been installed and the trial run is on. Shashi Tharoor, MP, will dedicate it to the station at 11 a.m. on Friday<\/p>\n
The high-speed Wi-Fi is being made available as part of Google’s mission to provide free high-speed internet access to 100 railway stations across India. Google has partnered up with RailTel Corporation of India, the in-house telecom wing and service provider of Railways to provide Wi-Fi at the station.<\/p>\n
High speed Wi-Fi will be free for the public and there will be no restrictions on the usage now. As of now, the speed will be 30Mbps for the first hour and, after one hour, it will come down to 1 Mbps.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The capacity of the Wi-Fi at the station is 1Gbps and the download speed will depend upon the number of users. 35 access points have been set up at various locations to ensure good coverage. Each point will cover 50 meters. Wi-Fi will be available on all the five platforms, booking office, and PRS (passenger reservation system) center on the Thampanoor side and booking office and PRS on the second entry on Power House Road.<\/p>\n
With this, Trivandrum Central will join Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode railway stations in the State to offer Wi-Fi connectivity to commuters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
