It was a joint effort by Suchitwa Mission, along with self-motivated and dedicated workforce from Grama Panchayats, voluntary groups, resource persons, village extension officers, NCC, NSS etc contributed to the successful completion of the project.<\/p>\n
Thrissur was the first district to become ODF followed by Kannur and Kozhikode. Trivandrum has declared OPF a few days ago. The maximum number of toilets was constructed in Palakkad – 23,075, followed by Alappuzha – 14,985 and Wayanad – 13,777. All the 941 grama panchayats were already declared as ODF.<\/p>\n

The campaign, which was part of center’s Swachh Bharat Mission, would benefit about 8 lakh people. Each beneficiary was given Rs. 12000 as grant from Swachh Bharat Gramin and Rs. 3400 from the state government.
