After a long delay, the government has given the administrative sanction for the widening of Kazhakkoottam-Kesavadasapuram road. However, the administrative sanction alone is not enough to start the work.<\/p>\n
District administration has requested PWD to bring a clarity on the requisition authority which must seek land from the revenue department. At present, there is a confusion on whether the Kerala Rapid Transit Corporation Ltd (KRTL) or national highway wing of PWD will take up the road widening work. The road belongs to National Highway wing but the widening work is part of the proposed Metro project by KRTL.<\/p>\n

Until this confusion is resolved, the government cannot initiate land acquisition works due to lack of request from the authority concerned.<\/p>\n
The KRTL was launched to implement metro projects in Trivandrum and Kozhikode. Though it won\u2019t come under the responsibility of KRTL, the SPV has been given charge of construction of four flyovers planned as part of metro project in the city.<\/p>\n
Cost is the major problem for the project. As per the estimate, around 6.7 hectares is need for widening costing around Rs 131.55 crore.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
