Kerala Tourism To Make All its facilities disabled-friendly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of barrier-free tourism initiative in the state, Kerala Tourism department will make all its facilities, including parks and hotels and other properties in various destinations, disabled-friendly. Soon private properties and other service providers will also follow this initiative.<\/p>\n<p>Top priority is given to all public parks in various destinations barrier-free. &#8220;<em>The current scenario in these destinations is not that encouraging. We are yet to do a survey of the parks which do not have the facilities required to give smooth access to disabled people, or take estimates. But, we hope to do that in a month&#8217;s time<\/em>,&#8221; tourism director P Bala Kiran said to Times of India.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Kannur district is already becoming a role model for this initiative by making its 2,800 government institutions barrier free.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Before issuing guidelines to private parties to ensure access to physically challenged people, Government must set examples.
