This is How KSEB pulled-off this herculean task"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kerala is always a role model for the rest of the states in the country when it comes to development and progress. Now Kerala has achieved a rare fete by providing electricity to all Keralites. That\u2019s right Kerala will be declared as a fully electrified state on May 29, with the Power Department providing connections to over 1.5 lakh applicants under the ambitious Total Electrification Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>KSEB has provided electricity connection to all families except 1,000 families. This includes 150 families belonging to tribal communities living in dense forest areas.\u00a0The reason why they are given a connection is that pending court cases and denial of permission from the forests department.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>KSEB expected only 1 lakh of applicants but they got 1.5lakh applications.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The government achieved the total electrification goal after conducting a drive to find those houses that had no power and asked them to apply for new connection by simplifying existing procedures. KSEB has provided 4.7 lakh new electric connections in the first year\u00a0of current government.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>KSEB had to string 65 km of 11 kV overhead lines, 40 km of 11 KV underground cables, 3040 km of LT overhead cables, 39 km LT underground cables and erected 21 transformers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In order to achieve this fete, KSEB had to string 65 km of 11 kV overhead lines, 40 km of 11 KV underground cables, 3040 km of LT overhead cables, 39 km LT underground cables and erected 21 transformers. In places where it was difficult to draw power lines, KSEB installed Solar power plants. to provide power connections. This includes 1,600 houses in 22 colonies.<\/p>\n<p>AS per central government rules if two public utilities in a village are electrified and 10% of total houses in that village are given power connections, that village can be declared as completely electrified.<\/p>\n<p>The Total Electrification Scheme was spearheaded by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) with support from the Energy Management Centre and the Agency for Non-conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT).\u00a0Kerala spent Rs 174 crore for the total electrification project, of which Rs 37.34 crore was spent from the asset development fund.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kerala is always a role model for the rest of the states in the country when it comes to development and progress.
