In a move that could propel Kerala\u2019s IT sector, Central Government has agreed to provide Rs 50 crore to set up an electronic manufacturing park and an IT incubation centre for start-ups in Kakkanad. The rest of the finance will be provided by the state government. Central Government will help the state to set up a 30,000 sq ft incubation centre for the start-ups in the IT sector, which is also located in Kakkanad.<\/p>\n
There will be a separate scheme to provide BPO jobs in smaller towns helping Kerala to provide 1,500 jobs in smaller towns. The number of seats or jobs in the scheme is based on the population of a state.<\/p>\n
India\u2019s IT exports is over $150 billion or `9.5 lakh crore, but exports from Kerala\u2019s IT sector is only Rs 3,500-odd crore. <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
In the last three years, Rs 5,900 crore worth FDI has come to India in the IT sector. However, the share of Kerala in IT sector FDI is very negligible. India\u2019s IT exports is over $150 billion or `9.5 lakh crore, but exports from Kerala\u2019s IT sector is only Rs 3,500-odd crore. Kerala\u2019s IT export figures are not good considering the opportunity and the potential.<\/p>\n
Kerala was the state who pioneered in IT sector. Kerala was also the first state in India to setup an IT Park which is Technopark in Trivandrum. However, states like Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh overtake Kerala in the IT sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
