Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) launched a public bike sharing system for short point to point travel. KMRL managing director Elias George inaugurated the public bike sharing system\u00a0on Monday by riding a cycle from the rack arranged near the KTDC parking ground, Menaka.<\/p>\n

Under the bike sharing program, commuters can use bicycles to travel short distance within the city limits.\u00a0 Bike share schemes allow people to borrow a bike from point “A” and return it at point “B”<\/p>\n

Bicycles are available at these locations<\/h3>\n

The major locations of the rack are Menaka Jn (opposite Gateway Hotel), Near KTDC at Vivekananda Road (next to Ernakulam Junction station entrance), Ernakulam Town station (under the bridge), Kaloor (opposite the private bus stand) and on Kaloor-Kadavanthra Road.<\/p>\n

Bike sharing is completely free<\/h3>\n

This will be a membership programme and the member has to send an SMS while taking and returning bicycles.\u00a0The bicycles can be taken from any rack and returned to any desired rack.\u00a0Just make sure, you lock the bicycle. after returning it to the rack.<\/p>\n

The bicycles can be used free of cost for 100 hours per month and the usage will automatically get blocked beyond 100 hours.<\/p>\n

The aim of this project is to provide commuters free short-distance cycle rides in the Greater Kochi Region.
