With new list, the total number of smart cities under the flagship 100 Smart City Mission has reached 90. The list was announced by Minister of Urban Development and Housing &amp; Urban Poverty Alleviation M.Venkaiah Naidu.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">Trivandrum Tops the List of 30 Cities<\/h2>\n<p>Kerala Capital Trivandrum came in the top place followed by Chhattisgarh&#8217;s new capital Naya Raipur. Other capital cities in the list include Amaravati, Patna, Srinagar, Bengaluru, Shimla, Dehradun, Aizawl and Gangtok.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-28045 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/files\/2017\/06\/Smart-city-Trivandrum.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/files\/2017\/06\/Smart-city-Trivandrum.png 1024w, https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/files\/2017\/06\/Smart-city-Trivandrum-768x432.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A total of 45 cities competed for the 40 available smart city slots. However, only 30 cities have been found to have feasible and workable plans that match the aspirations of the citizens as directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">Total Investment Proposal Reached\u00a0Rs 57,393 crore<\/h2>\n<p>30 cities announced today submitted a total investment of Rs 57,393 crore under the Smart City Scheme. Among this Rs, 46,879 crore is for ensuring core infrastructure in the areas identified by citizens for area-based development and Rs 10,514 crore for technology-based solutions for improving governance, service delivery and utilisation of infrastructure.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">Different Cities, Different Priorities<\/h2>\n<p>26 cities among the 30 announced today have proposed affordable housing projects and 26 cities will be taking up school and hospital projects and 29 cities will focus on redesign and redevelopment of roads to enable walking and cycling.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>All of them will put in place Integrated Command and Control Centres that enable coordination among various agencies for better service delivery and effective management of scarce resources like water and power. So, these are not merely cosmetic changes<\/em>,&#8221; Naidu said.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">20 More Cities Remaining<\/h2>\n<p>With the new list, total investment approved under the Smart City plan of 90 cities has reached Rs1,91,155 crore.<\/p>\n<p>20 more cities will be contesting for the remaining 10 slots under smart city mission.
