Central Government has announced the third list of Smart Cities under Smart City Mission and Kerala Capital tops the list<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now that Trivandrum has been selected for Smart City scheme, the capital will attempt to solve its core problems using the special funding. As much as Rs. 1,538 Crore will be spent on the development project in Trivandrum under the Smart City Scheme.<\/p>\n

Centre, State and Corporation will contribute<\/h2>\n

Central Government will provide Rs500 crore while Rs450 crore will be given by the state government. Trivandrum Corporation will contribute another Rs50 crore and the remaining will come from the Public-Private Participation model.<\/p>\n

The all-round developmental programme will ensure uplift of the poor, as per the schemes are drawn up by the Trivandrum Corporation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

How Trivandrum will become a Smartcity<\/h2>\n

Trivandrum\u2019s Smart City plan aims to solve major urbanisation problems. Some of this goals include the use of latest technology for waste management, making roads and walkways disabled-friendly, creating cycling pathways and bigger parking, and improving transport.<\/p>\n

The area to be covered has heritage locations and business centres, including the famed Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Stress on non-conventional energy and Clean supply of Drinking water<\/h2>\n

Apart from these, City will try to tap into non-conventional energy sources and rainwater harvesting by both government and residential buildings. For drinking water supply, detailed plans have been drawn up.<\/p>\n

Month-long extensive campaign for Smart City finally paid off<\/h2>\n

Trivandrum Corporation has drawn up the area development plan for the Smart City Mission after conducting a month-long campaign using social media.
