Hyperloop One has been the buzzword on the internet for a while now. Its a radical new concept to move people and things at airline speeds for the price of a bus ticket.\u00a0Theoretically it can cover 1100Km in just 30 minutes.<\/p>\n

In the beginning of this year, Hyperloop one launched a Global Challenge as an open call to individuals, universities, companies and governments to develop comprehensive proposals for using Hyperloop and making the concept a reality. Now the company has announced the finalists and one team from India called the Team Hyperloop India has entered the finals of Hyperloop challenge<\/p>\n

This team will compete for the Hyperloop challenge at its final contest in August at Hawthorne in California. It is the first and only team from India, and one of the two from Asia to be selected by Hyperloop One.<\/p>\n

According to Team Hyperloop India, their Hyperloop pod called the Orcapod can achieve speeds of up to 460 kilometres per hour in a vacuum tube.<\/p>\n

Team Hyperloop India started out as a 60-member team from BITS Pillani. Now it consists of 150-member brilliant students supported by mentors and experts from various organisations. It consists of the best minds from engineering and B’ schools of the country including BITS Pilani University, Indian School of Business and IIM Ahmedabad.<\/p>\n

Team Hyperloop India consists of 5 students from Kerala. They are Harikrishnan R Unnithan, Sreejith Pisharody and Hari SR from BITS Pilani Goa campus, and\u00a0Sreeram Rajesh\u00a0and Prithvi Shankar from BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus.<\/p>\n

At the final round at California, the team will test their Orcapod in the mile-long vacuum tube at the test track. The team is targeting to achieve a speed of 95meters per second.<\/p>\n

What is Hyperloop?<\/h2>\n

Hyperloop One a futuristic mode of transpiration to move passengers and cargo between two points immediately, safely, efficiently, and sustainably.<\/p>\n

In Hyperloop, passengers are loaded into pods and fired through vacuum tubes at more than 1,000km\/h which is the average speed of a Passenger jet. By pumping the air out of the tubes, the train can travel without resistance, allowing high speeds using less energy than a conventional train. So, imagine that you can travel from Mumbai to Delhi in under 90 minutes.<\/p>\n

Recently, Central Government has shown interest in Hyperloop One as the future mode of transport between major cities. One such proposed route includes Trivandrum-Bangalore.<\/p>\n
