The much anticipated outer ring road project to be executed soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">Under the CRDP, initiated by Government of Kerala, it proposed to develop an Outer Area Growth Corridor. A 50km long 6 lane highway will be the principle component of this project. This project was initiated four years ago to reduce the traffic on roads such as the NH 66, NH 66 bypass and the MC road and to initiate economic development in the outer regions of the city.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">Thiruvananthapuram is developing at an alarming rate with its IT hubs and projects like the Vizhinjam Port, thus a highway dotting all the major landmarks in the city is the need of the hour. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">A project worth Rs.1061 crore is expected to be carried out in Public Private Partnership (PPP), with Rs.549 crore raised through PPP, Rs.189 crores borne by the State and the remaining Rs.323 crore by the centre. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">The 50 km highway will connect NH 66, state highways and the MC road. The corridor will mainly run across the Greenfield areas in the outer area. Beginning from Mangalapuram in the north to Vizhinjam Port, the project will connect directly to Kaniyapuram and Neyyatinkara once completed. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">The project which is likely to take 30 months for completion forecasts a shoot in employment opportunities and also increase the economic activities in the outer regions of the city. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">The DPR will be submitted after conducting the environmental impact study. This Social Impact Study will be conducted by Larsen &amp; Toubro (L&amp;T) engineering.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">This vital project now awaits approval from the government. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Detailed Project Report (DRP) of the Capital Region Development Program (CRDP) to be submitted in two months.
