The Discovery Education and 3M named 14-year old Deepika the winner of the 2012 Discovery Education 3M Young Scientist Challenge for her innovative and cost effective Water-Purification system. <strong>Her water purification system will improve the lives of 1.1 billion people around the world who lack access of clean drinking water.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Deepika Kurup, a ninth grader of Nashua High School, competed with nine other finalists and won the competition and was awarded with $25,000 and a trip from Discovery Student Adventures. The US President Barak Obama when came to Nashua for the Presidential campaign, appreciated the genius for her achievement.
