One of the pioneer film makers of Indian Cinema Yash Chopra has passed away.He was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai after being diagnosed with dengue. He was 80.<\/p>\n
He is survived by his wife Pamela Chopra and two children Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra. Yashji was awarded with Padma Bhushan in 2005. He was involved in the production of \u00a0more than 53 films and has directed 22 films.<\/p>\n
Yash Chopra\u00a0 started his film journey as an assistant director to I S Johar<\/a> and his elder brother B R Chopra<\/a>. His debut directorial venture was Dhool Ka Phool in the year 1959. Waqt(1965), his commercially successful film began the trend of multi-starrers in Bollywood.<\/p>\n Yash Raj Films, Chopra’s production company was founded in 1973. \u00a0Associated with Indian cinema for over 5 decades, the name of the legend figures in the list of\u00a0 greatest film makers of the Hindi film industry. He was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2001. British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA<\/a>) recognized his contribution to films by presenting him with a lifetime membership. He is the first Indian to receive the same in the 59 year history of the academy.<\/p>\n
