The rise of Shahrukh Khan as a superstar owes much to the romantic films made by Yash Chopra. The image of Shahrukh Khan as a romantic hero came to be imprinted in the Indian minds with the super-hit movies released under Yash Raj Films banner. The bond between Shahrukh Khan and Yash Chopra goes a long way back. They came together for \u2018Darr (1993)\u2019 for the first time where Shahrukh played an obsessed lover having a negative touch. After Darr came the evergreen super-hit Dil Wale Dulhania Le Jayenge(1995) which is still running in some theatres in Mumbai even after 17 years of its release. Yash Raj banner and Shahrukh Khan again come together in the film Dil To Pagal Hai (1997), Mohabbatein(2000),Veer Zaara(2004) and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi(2008).<\/p>\n

On the occasion of 80th<\/sup>\u00a0birthday of Yash Chopra, Shahrukh Khan hosted an interview with him where he describes the veteran film maker as \u201cmore than father figure\u201d. Yash Chopra in the interview said that working with Shahrukh Khan<\/a> was a positive experience.<\/p>\n

“I have always had great experience working with him. He is one actor who has never asked me what the story is about, how much money he will charge. Whatever amount I send him through cheque he takes that and rather asks me why I gave such a huge amount. He does not meet me before we start shooting, he says I don’t want to know the story, don’t want to talk about money so why to meet. It is all because he has faith in me \u201c – Said Yash Chopra<\/p>\n

While talking about Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Shahrukh revealed that his \u2018Kismat connection\u2019 with Yash Chopra started even as early as 9years age when he watched Yash Chopra\u2019s \u2018Joshila<\/a>\u2019 in Delhi. Another incredible instance happened in the shooting location of \u2018Silsila\u2019. 15 year old Shahrukh had come with family then to see the shooting. As fate would have it, his future wife Gouri was also present there with her family. This coincidence he came to know years later only when his mother-in law told him. The next instance told by Shahrukh Khan was that it was while watching Yash Chopra\u2019s \u2018Lamhe\u2019 that he got a call from Yash Raj Films asking him to come over for discussion.<\/p>\n
