{"id":3387,"date":"2012-10-24T22:12:35","date_gmt":"2012-10-24T16:42:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/?p=3387"},"modified":"2012-10-25T01:45:24","modified_gmt":"2012-10-24T20:15:24","slug":"kairali-sree-and-kalabhavan-set-to-reopen-on-november-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entecity.com\/news\/kairali-sree-and-kalabhavan-set-to-reopen-on-november-30\/","title":{"rendered":"Kairali-Sree, Kalabhavan theaters upgraded to multiplex quality, reopening on November 30."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A visual treat awaits the audience at the renovated Kairali, Sree and Kalabhavan theatres in the <a href=\"http:\/\/entecity.com\" target=\"_blank\">Trivandrum city<\/a> which are set to reopen on November 30 this year. <strong>The Kairali-Sree theatre complex will be elevated to multiplex status with three screens altogether.<\/strong> Refurbishment of <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.entecity.com\/theatre\/kalabhavan\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kalabhavan theatre<\/a> includes renovation of toilet, lobbies, and a centralized air-conditioning system etc .The renovated theatres will also get a modern food court.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Kalabhavan theatre at Vazhuthacaud<\/strong>, will have 60-inch wide seats. Earlier, the theatre had 144 seats in the balcony and 360 seats in reserved section. However when new seats are introduced, around 12 seats in the balcony will get reduced.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the renovation, the three theatres will get <strong>latest sound and projection system with state of the art 2K projector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.entecity.com\/theatre\/kairali\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kairali theatre<\/a> would have a 2K projection facility with a seating capacity of 500. Sree would maintain the same number of seats, which is less than 300. The new theatre in the complex would have a seating capacity of 200,\u201d<\/em> said Sabu Cherian, chairman of the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC).<\/p>\n<p>The ticket prices are expected to increase when the theatres are reopened. The ultimate goal is to convert these theatres as a film releasing centre in the city. The total estimated cost of the entire project is around Rs2.5 crores<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI think that if the people are offered better facilities they would be prepared to pay more for it.\u201d<\/em> Said Sabu Cherian<\/p>\n<p>Kairali &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.entecity.com\/theatre\/sree-theatre\/\">Sree Theatre<\/a> and Kalabhavan Theatre never popularized as a centre for commercial film releases. But the theatre is a permanent venue for hosting the International Film Festival (<a title=\"IFFK 2012\" href=\"http:\/\/news.entecity.com\/december-blooms-with-iffk-2012\/\" target=\"_blank\">IFFK<\/a>) every year.
