Mobile operators Bharti Airtel and Aircel has started taking pre-orders for Apple’s iPhone 5<\/strong> which is going to hit Indian stores on November 2.<\/a><\/p>\n

According to the listing in their website, both Airtel and Aircel, open preorder for iPhone 5 which starts at Rs 45,000 for the 16GB version. The 32 GB version is available for Rs. 52,500 while the 64GB version is priced at Rs 59,500. Both mobile operators also promised to ship the product with 7-8 days after the official launch which is on November 2.<\/p>\n

All the leading mobile operators in the country also said that the “Nano SIM cards” that supports iPhone5 will be available in their outlets from November. Users who buy the iPhone 5<\/strong> will have to swap their existing SIM card to Nano SIM from their operators.<\/p>\n

Executives with both Airtel and Aircel said that they will soon launch attractive tariff plans and free minutes packages for the iPhone5 and this will benefit the customers who opt to buy the phone from them.<\/p>\n

“This time around, the price in the retail market as well as that offered by us (Airtel and Aircel) will be identical. But, bundled schemes and free minutes that will be part of special tariff packages that are tailor-made for the iPhone 5 will ensure that our customers recover a significant part of what it cost them to acquire the phone,” said an executive with one of these carriers.<\/p>\n

Apple has decided to make iPhone 5 available to users independent of their mobile operators. This allows users of any carrier to use iPhone5 without having to unlock. All the previous versions of the iPhones were locked to either Airtel or Aircel. Moreover, rather than selling through these operators, Apple has partnered with Ingram Micro and Redington as the authorized distributors for selling the iPhone 5.<\/p>\n

Indian iPhone users have another reason to cheer as Apple has decided to allow Rupee-based billing in its \u2018App store\u2019. This will allow customers to pay for an App in Rupees instead of Dollars. This move is to compete with the Google’s app store, the ‘Google Play’.<\/p>\n

It is reported that on websites like eBay.in and Olx.in , customers were ordering iPhone for Rs 58,000 for the 16GB model. The 32GB model and 64GB model were selling at Rs 94,000 and Rs 1.06 lac respectively.<\/p>\n
