The state film awards were distributed yesterday at a glittering ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram<\/a> by the honorable Chief Minister Shri Oommen Chandy. The People’s showman Dilip bagged the Best Actor award and Shweta Menon the Best Actress. The Director Blessy received the Best Director award.<\/p>\n

The coveted JC Daniel award was awarded postomously to ace actor Jose Prakash which was received by his family members. The Chief Minister distributed 38 awards in front of the elite crowd who attended the function. After a long period of four decades renowned lyricist Sreekumaran Thampy bagged the Best Lyricist award. Jagathy Sreekumar was awarded with the Best Character actor role and Sreekumaran Thampy received the award on his behalf.<\/p>\n

The awards for other sections are as follows Ranjith (Best Film Director), Fahad Fazil (2nd Best Actor), Nilambur Aaysha (2nd Best Actress), Malavika Nair (Child Artist), M. Mohan( Writer), MJ Radhakrishnan ( Cinematographer), Bobby-Sanjay ( script writers), Sarat (Music Director), Sudeep Kumar (Male Singer), Sreya Ghoshal (female singer) and B Jayachandran (Best Documentary).<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister in his speech said that the policy of the government is to promote the cinema which is the common man’s entertainment. He added that the government will soon take a decision on increasing the prize amount of the awards.<\/p>\n

The strike of the theatre owners<\/a> were against rules and this will destroy the films said Minister KB Ganesh Kumar. Minister VS Sivakumar, Mayor K Chandrika, Anwar Sadath MLA, Jury Chairman Bhagyaraj, Chalachithra Academy Chairman Priyadarshan, George Onakkur, Secretary to Cultural Department Sajan Peter, Academy Secretary K Manoj Kumar and other dignitaries attended the function.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
